Customers

Creating a customer in Bench is simple and only takes a few minutes. Follow the steps below to add a new customer ΓÇö whether itΓÇÖs a company or an individual.

📍 Where to Find the Form Go to the Customers module.

Click Create Customer.

You'll see a form like this:

📝 Step-by-Step Guide 1. Customer Name (Required) Enter the full name of the customer or business. This is how they’ll appear on invoices and reports.

  1. Website (Optional) Include the customerΓÇÖs website if applicable. This is helpful for reference or recordkeeping.

  2. Is Organization Check this box if the customer is a company or organization. Leave it unchecked for individuals.

  3. Tax ID & TIN Number (Optional) If the customer has a tax registration number or TIN, enter it here. This is useful for compliance and invoicing.

  4. Phone Number Enter the primary contact number for the customer.

  5. Email Add the customerΓÇÖs email address for sending invoices, quotes, or updates.

  6. Allow Credit Check this if you allow the customer to buy on credit (i.e., pay later). This enables credit tracking features.

  7. Billing Currency (Required) Select the currency this customer will be billed in (e.g., USD, ZAR, ZWL). This determines how invoices and payments are handled.

  8. Addresses Physical Address: Where the customer is located.

Billing Address: Where invoices or official documents should be sent.

📁 Add a Photo (Optional) You can upload a logo or image of the customer for easy recognition. Just drag and drop a file into the photo area, or click browse to select one from your computer.

🏦 Additional Info (Optional) Banking Details Include bank account info or preferred payment instructions.

✅ When You're Done Click Save at the bottom of the page. If anything is missing (like billing currency or customer name), you’ll get a helpful message guiding you to fix it.

🙋 FAQs Can I edit a customer later? Yes! Just go to the Customers list, click the one you want, and then click Edit.

What happens if I allow credit? The system will track how much the customer owes, when invoices are due, and flag overdue amounts.

Can I create multiple customers with the same name? No ΓÇö customer names must be unique to avoid confusion in reports and transactions.
