Inventory Introduction
If your business relies heavily on inventory, Bench will go a long way in keeping you organized. The core concept of inventory management in bench is dividing inventory into four categories:
- Products - Items purchased or manufactured for sale.
- Raw materials - these are inputs used in manufacturing processes. If your business transforms some material into an end product, raw materials help separate inputs from end products.
- Equipment - Items purchased for use within your business that contribute directly to business operations. Equipment differs from assets in that it generally fall under the asset capitalization limit in terms of value. To learn more about the distinction, please visit the support article on assets.
- Consumables - Items purchased for use within your business that are expended on use.
Bench inventory provides a dashboard that indicates the composition of your top 10 inventory items. There's also a chart that breaks down the total accounts payable into the individual suppliers and the proportion of the total that is owed. It also summarizes the number of undelivered orders as well as the total accounts payable to all suppliers.
